Nairobi national park is the major and main tourist attraction in Nairobi, it is the first national park in Kenya and also in east Africa, it was established on 16th December 1946. the park is located in the south of Nairobi 7 km from the city center. the park covers a very huge area of 117.21 km squared but compared to other parks it is small. the park is fenced with an electric fence on three sides, that is, the northern, eastern, and western boundaries, the southern boundary is not fenced is open to the kitengela conservation area. in this area, there is a huge movement of animals to the south of the park to reach the Athi-Kapiti plains.

The environment of the park is open grasses with Acacia bushes scattered around the area, The lower slopes of these areas are grassland. consisting of Themeda, cypress, Digitaria, and Cynodon species, In the south of the park, there is a permanent river with forest along with it. the northern part of it is rocky where several plants grow. other parts of the park have broken bush, deep rocky valleys, and gorges.

Key features Animals include buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, baboon, zebra, wildebeest, rhinoceros, giraffe, hippopotamus, spotted hyena, plain zebra, cheetah, gazelles, common eland, impala, waterbuck, common warthog, olive baboon, black-backed jackal, common ostrich, and crocodile. most of the herbivores migrate to the southern plain in the wet season and return to the park during the dry season this shows that during the dry season-high population of animals is found on the park
